The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for scheduling outpatient and inpatient surgeries and collecting and submitting all necessary paperwork.
The coordinator will also submit surgery authorization requests, check benefits, answer phones, manage patient records, complete credentialing packets, and run insurance verification.
Surgery scheduler will be responsible but not limited to:
Schedule surgical appointments Confirm date and time of surgery with appropriate hospitals and patients Complete patient reminder calls for appointments Complete proper paperwork/consent required for scheduling purposes (ie:
booking sheet and/or pre-op orders) Communicate with hospitals, the physicians, patients, and medical representatives in regards to all surgical cases; also for add on's, cancellations or rescheduling to ensure accuracy Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure physicians schedule is properly organized with no overlaps Handle all necessary correspondence, authorization requests, and RFA's pertaining to surgery Complete credentialing packets to ensure physicians privileges are up-to-date at the hospitals services are provided Other skills:
Skill in communicating effectively with physicians/clinicians about scheduling preferences Ability to multitask effectively, dealing with phone calls, in office patients, staff, and others pleasantly Ability to respond/reply calmly, professionally, and clearly when speaking to patients about their appointments Ability to send written confirmations in a clear and concise manner Ability to problem solve Minimum of 1-2 years experience required in the medical field.
Minimum of 1-2 years experience required for scheduling patient appointments.
Surgery scheduling experience preferred.
We have two offices:
one in West Hills and one in Santa Monica so this job may require going to either office.
We are willing to train you in spine and neurosurgery if you are the right fit.
